Rules to prepare the 3M video
  1. The length should be exactly 3 minutes even 1 second more is not tolerated.

  2. Avoid using PowerPoint slides for most of the video. Only up to 30% of the video (1min) can be from the presentation slides.

  3. At least the first 3 seconds should be devoted to the paper title, authors, affiliations, etc.

  4. At least the last 3 seconds should contain the acknowledgement to IEEE IES for the SYPA!

  5. The video file should be sent through sharing websites like Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. (just send the link to download) and never attach the file in the email.

  6. Send the following information in the email. They will be added to your video information on IES YouTube Channel.

  1. Running title, less than 50 characters that would be the name of your video on the IES YouTube Channel

  2. Paper title, authors’ names, affiliation

  3. Paper abstract

  4. Any other information you like to have about your video on YouTube page

  5. Email subject should be exactly as your name – Conference name – SYPA – 3M Video

Please send the email at least 10 days before the conference to ( and CC to ( A committee checks your video, and you may receive some comments to improve and resend the video as well. Also, each video will receive some scores based on its impact, creativity, style, presentation, video quality, etc.  After final approval, the video would be uploaded on IES YouTube Channel, and you will receive an email including the link to your video on IES YouTube Channel. You should copy that link to the IES Facebook Event page of the conference and wait for the thumbnail to appear, then post it!!! Moreover, you should similarly post the link of your video to the IEEE Collabratec.

The direct link to the Facebook event page and IEEE Collabratec Group will be provided later.


Not for Online Events - Don’t forget to bring your video file to the 3M Video Session. The video will be displayed on a large screen, and you will be talking to the audience for 3 minutes. So, your speech should be very brief and informative.

All information (including the place, date, and time) for the 3M Video Session and the ceremony to receive the Diplomas will be announced by the first day of the conference.


Some tips to prepare your video
  1. The idea of 3M video session is to help students learning how to advertise their project to the public and promote the Authors. Whether your work is just theoretical or by simulations, you are expected to prepare the movie as interactive, live and interesting for the viewers. Record some minutes from running results in the software, during simulation or practical tests.

  2. Record some videos from your hardware design or even software results (e.g., the screen of your computer) while they are running. At least 70% of your video should include interactive parts and not solid slides.

  3. It is recommended to present the work with your own voice during the video recording. Please present it in a different way than a PowerPoint presentation. Your video will be on IES YouTube Channel and should attract viewers.

  4. Showing some information on the video using simple texts as subtitles is also recommended. Note that the voice is useful for YouTube viewers, however, during the conference it will be replaced by your 3M speech. The video will be displayed with no sound. (Not for Online Events)

  5. For online events, the video will be displayed by the host. So, your presentation recorded on the video is helpful.

  6. Sometimes background music could make your video much more interesting.

  7. The audience already saw your paper presentations so be different in your videos.

  8. Try to make people interested in your videos. Devote some seconds of the video to your office, lab, any places that you are working in and show the stuff you are using for that project, introduce co-authors, and supervisors, explain motivation, etc.

  9. The 3M video does not need to show the details of your work. Some concepts are enough to attract people’s attention. Deep theoretics and mathematics are not useful to advertise your project to people with different interests.

  10. Note that the video should be alive and interactive. Static pictures do not interest anyone. Find gif or flash images from the Internet.

Hady Habib Fayek received his PhD degree in 2019 at 29, in Electrical Power Engineering, from Helwan University, Egypt, including associated research with Texas A&M University, USA. He got his B.Sc. degree in 2011 and M.Sc. degree in 2014 from Helwan University.  He is currently working as a lecturer in the Energy Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering, Heliopolis University. He is the chairman of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Egypt Chapter; he was the main organiser of many international conferences about smart cities and sustainable electrical engineering. He published more than 30 research papers about recent advances in the electrical power and energy sector in many international conferences and journals. Hady is a guest editor and reviewer in many IEEE, Tech-science, MDPI, Elsevier and IET transactions, journals and conferences. He is also a keynote speaker at many conferences and webinars.

Students based sustainable, innovative solutions in Egypt
Egypt is turning its communities to be sustainable and intelligent. The students of Engineering in different fields have bigger chances to involve renewable energies as a sustainable step and also to apply IoT and artificial intelligence as thoughtful steps in their projects. Those projects are turning to be startups and products used by Egyptian citizens from different educational and financial levels. Examples of these projects are simple wind turbines to feed homes with electricity, 100% on-grid PV solutions, IoT electric vehicles, Conversion of gasoline cars to electric vehicles and others done by undergraduate students at Heliopolis University into startups.

Ayda’s insights into the dynamics and culture of organizations has helped her clients successfully navigate the political landscape of their organizations. Having developed her own career in fast paced competitive environments, she understands what it takes to proactively manage a career. Her approach is empathetic yet pragmatic, asking the right questions to help her clients think creatively in dealing with workplace challenges.

She is a National Board Certified Counselor and New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She received her MA in Counseling from New York University and MSW in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University.


Mercy Chelangat K. is an electrical engineer specializing in renewable energies to power sustainable community development and emerging trends such as electric vehicles and e-mobility.

Mercy possesses a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Moi University, Kenya. She specializes in solar engineering and humanitarian development. She is also a current Masters in Development Practice student at Regis University.

Mercy is an ardent volunteer at the IEEE Kenya Section and the IEEE Power Energy Society (PES). Mercy serves as the IEEE Smart Village Ambassador, and PES Women in Power Lead for Region 8. She oversaw the piloting of the Networking without Borders PES Renewable Energy for Kids Program. She has led PES Day activities for Africa in the past to promote more power and gender equality in underserved areas.

Mercy was the global PES Day vice Chair 2021 and is the PES Day Chair 2022. Under the theme, “Powering a Sustainable Future” PES DAY 2022 will engage IEEE Members from 52 countries and 72 sections across the globe to help advocate for a Sustainable Future Powered by Clean and Resilient Power and Energy technologies.

Mercy works with the IEEE Smart Village initiative, overseeing the East African programs and with the IEEE Foundation to develop fundraising proposals for rural development projects. Mercy likes to blog and vlog on clean energy matters as a hobby and founded the TechGaa Hub that aims to provide training opportunities through leveraging connectivity and digital technologies in rural villages. This platform also discusses key issues especially regarding productive uses of electricity for community development.
